Don't miss this year's Scout Booth at the Ohio State Fair. Each day of the Fair will have a different theme at the Scout Booth and will feature various competitions and hands-on Scouting activities. There will also be a FREE Bounce House for Kids, a "Green Screen" photo area, Pinewood Derby Races, popcorn eating contests, dutch oven cooking contests, a food drive, a flag collection and retirement ceremony and so much more. An event you don’t want to miss! Bring your family and friends to enjoy a special presentation by Eric Weihenmayer, the only blind person to climb the ‘Seven Summits,’ the tallest peak on seven continents.

Following Eric’s presentation will be a special satellite transmission of the Centennial Celebration Show from the 100th Anniversary National Scout Jamboree in Fort AP Hill, Va shown on the big screen at the ballpark. If you can’t make the trip to the National Jamboree, this is the place to be! For the first time in the history of the Boy Scouts of America, we will be bringing the entire Scouting community together for a single, nationwide event to celebrate our organization and reflect on what it has meant to millions of America’s youth.

The Bounce Houses and a band will be performing prior to Eric’s presentation so show up around 5:00PM to enjoy the festivities. (Vendors will be available to purchase food).

A Shining Light Across America Council Shoulder Patch as part of the 100th Anniversary set collection will be available for purchase for $5.00 (you can get the CSP and a copy of Eric's book for $10).

The Ohio State University and the Simon Kenton Council have made it possible for Scouts and Venturers to usher during the OSU Buckeye football games as a community service project. This opportunity is open to all Boy Scout Troops and Venturing Crews.

This Orientation meeting is for the leaders of the Troops and Crews that will be participating this fall. You must attend an orientation session if you plan on ushering this fall.

Who should attend?

Sea Scout Ships, Venturing Crews, and older Boy Scout patrols are all welcome (14 and older and 1st Class rank).

What is the program?

Of course, fellowship is a large part of the weekend.

Competitions (both individual and group) will include boat and canoe races, triathlon, sand castle contest, knot tying, swimming, volleyball, etc.

Opportunities for advancement in the Sea Scout program as well as general Scouting and skills instruction.

This year will include the Fourth Simon Kenton Council Cup Race with a trophy presentation to the winning boat.

Register early!! Registration deadline is August 1st.

Simon Kenton Council's football ushering civic service project requires youth and adults of the highest caliber. Our success depends upon the best
leadership and people skills we can provide. This project serves three purposes: (1) to maintain the visibility of Scouting in the public domain, (2) to
maintain the visibility of The Ohio State University in the Scouting domain, and most importantly (3) to help build our youth into citizens of good character. See the attachment below for detailed instructions and game dates.

During the Rail-o-Ree, all participants will ride on the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway, get a behind-the-scenes visit to the engine house and camp next to the depot.

The $25 fee includes a train ride, all activities, camp site, and Friday and Saturday crackerbarrel. This event is run by registered merit badge counselors assisted by railroad volunteers.

All participants will receive a discount coupon from Rocky Outdoor Gear (located across the track from the depot). Activities start at 9 pm on Friday with a crackerbarrel and railroad safety presentation and end Sunday morning with evaluation
and check out.
